Being an introvert has been my superpower since I was very young; and now as a coach, I strive to bring out everyone’s true superpower. Growing up as one of twelve children, I was the only one who frequently asked to take naps as I continuously searched for quiet spaces to recharge. Sound familiar?

Introverts, if you’re reading this, know we already have something in common! Prepare to nod continuously in agreement. Extroverts, take a look because nearly 1 in every 3 people you know are also introverted personality types.

While introversion comes with many challenges in the way our system has been built, it is important to remember that it may very well be your superpower.

Here’s how to harness it.

Get comfortable with silence.

Silence can be deafening but it is also where some of the best thoughts happen. Though society may have given us an opposing picture of what it means to be “social” it’s ok to prefer quiet time alone and undoubtedly choose that instead.

Embrace and accept your moment of recognition.

Get to know yourself. Take Myers Briggs Assessments, talk to fellow introverted peers, find your balance and remember to take time to recharge however you choose.

Constantly remind yourself that introversion can be your superpower.

Your true self is your best self. Embrace it!
