A New Take On Bravery, Inspired by Glennon Doyle

If I asked you: “Are you brave enough and willing enough to go through the steps that it takes to know who you truly are?” What would you say?

This is a difficult question, but undeniably one of the most important. It is a question that struck a chord with me while reading Glennon Doyle’s “Untamed”. Mostly because they echo the words of my journey beginning Better All Together; and in this memoir, Glennon defines being brave as “living from the inside out”.

Building toward a more meaningful life is ultimately the goal of most humans and the only way to get there is by having the courage to “shed” anything that blocks you from knowing yourself.

Here’s how.

Identify what grounds you

Whether it be a spiritual practice or personal ritual, use a grounding vehicle to help identify how you show up in the world- aka being self-aware. Remember to follow your inner compass.

Remember what nourishes you

Time with community, books, dancing, you name it. Whatever it is that sets your soul on fire and makes you feel alive… do more of that! Remember to come back here when you are feeling “malnourished” or fatigued by the world around you.

“Shed” and create space

Some things in life simply don’t suit us or our values. As we evolve, we uncover truths, we must remind ourselves that we do have permission to “shed” when needed, and create space for ourselves to be free. For example, establishing boundaries.
